MOMIS Wrapper XML

An XML wrapper wraps data sources that contains valid XML data. It performs the translation of the document structure from the XML-DTD to ODL_i3.
Every wrapper is activated made of two phases:
  • Translation phase: It's the translation from XML data structures to Odl i3 data structures
  • Querying phase: It's the query translation from OQL_i3 language to XML query language. This phase isn't implemented because not exists a standard query language for xml sources.
Il wrapper XML presiede sorgenti di dati di tipo XML valid. In particolare viene effettuata la traduzione della struttura del documento XML cosė come espressa nella DTD in una struttura avente una analoga semantica nel linguaggio ODLi3. Una particolare attenzione č stata posta alla traduzione delle "ATTLIST" presenti in XML, ma non presenti in ODLi3, e nella realizzazione di una interfaccia grafica che permetta al progettista la scelta di chiavi primarie, candidate e esterne, non contemplate in XML, ma fortemente utilizzate in MOMIS per la realizzazione del Global Schema.

A wrapper must be initializated and starded on the machine where resides the source.
